MANILA - Taiwanese organizations are donating at least 15,000 masks to the Philippines, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Manila said Friday.
In a statement, TECO said the Taiwanese Compatriots Association in the Philippines sent 5,000 surgical face masks to the Department of Health.
The Taiwanese Association in the Philippines also supplied the Philippine General Hospital 10,000 surgical masks to assist its workers.
"[We continue] to work closely with related Philippine government agencies 'to facilitate collective efforts' to help address the needs of Filipinos amid the fight against COVID-19," TECO said.
Donations of medical supplies continue to pour into the Philippines as hospitals and other health institutions in the country appeal for help, especially those inadequately provided with medical equipment.
As of Friday, there are 3,018 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, with a total 136 deaths and 52 recoveries.
